Angelo Karaboyas, PhD

Senior Research Scientist

Dr. Karaboyas leads several aspects of real-world evidence (RWE) research, including the independent initiation and development of successful proposals, operational coordination and communication as principal investigator, innovative solutions for observational study designs, mentorship and guidance for analysts and investigators, writing and preparation of manuscripts, and public presentation of findings. Leveraging his Biostatistics and Epidemiology expertise, he uses causal inference principles to craft clear research questions and statistical methods that are often creative, but also appropriate and efficient, to address confounding and reduce bias in analyses of real-world data. Dr. Karaboyas has represented Arbor Research at several international conferences, and has coauthored over 75 peer-reviewed publications, many as first or senior author, primarily collaborating with industry partners for RWE in kidney disease research. Prior to joining Arbor Research, he received his BS in Mathematics from the University of Michigan – Dearborn in 2008 and his MS in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor in 2010. Dr. Karaboyas completed his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor in 2019 with a dissertation focused on identifying best practices in hemodialysis using innovative study designs and statistical methods.
